MM Eisfeld
MM Eisfeld is a modular typeface. It was developed using a small number of found letterforms made of yellow tiles as its starting point. Based on these references, a visual system was created to interpret and construct the remaining characters. The full typeface is therefore both rooted in the original tile letters and freely extended through a consistent modular logic.

Origin
The original Oerlikon artificial ice rink was designed in 1984 by the architect Fritz Schwarz, with the tile signage being part of the original build. The images were taken by Peter Grünert and Thomas Hussel. Next year the original stadium will be demolished and replaced by a new sports complex. The project is part of the redevelopment of the Oerlikon sports centre.
