MM Veltlin
MM Veltlin was found on the facade of a small hotel with a restaurant in the Engadin valley in Switzerland. The restaurant is called Veltlinerstube and only serves specialites from the region of Veltlin. The letters felt constructed, some felt out of place and some others had serifs. Overall very charming–that’s the look we wanted to capture.
Valtellina, known in German as Veltlin, traces the Adda River through Lombardy’s Alps to Lake Como. On sun-drenched, terraced slopes Nebbiolo grapes—here called Chiavennasca—mature on dry-stone walls, yielding mineral, elegant wines. Historic villages such as Tirano, Bormio and Morbegno guard Romanesque churches, frescoes and balconies. Winter invites skiers and thermal baths; summer links alpine pastures and chestnut woods by panoramic trails for hikers and bikers outdoors. Local staples Bitto cheese and pizzoccheri define the hearty cuisine!

Character
The typeface is defined by its wide letterforms, which give it a distinctive character. Its high x-height adds a certain charm and clarity. Some letters feature serifs and stand out from the overall appearance, yet they fit the typeface surprisingly well. It also includes a wide range of special glyphs, such as numbers enclosed in circles. MM Veltlin is a display typeface for posters and visual identities. It has a warm, charismatic appearance that gives it a distinctive and approachable character.
